Halloween Duathlon - Fenor 2009

Fancy Dress Duathlon - Last weekend, to coincide with Halloween we held the 1st race of our Winter Club duathlon series. We used this opportunity to dress up in Fancy dress...

and held the race for charity with all proceeds going to The South Tipperary Hospice which provided a lot of help to Barry McCarthy, a member of Carrick Triathlon Club who passed away recently. The sun shone brightly on the morning which brought out a large crowd from our own club, the Carrick Tri club, local running clubs and many friends and family. Some were a bit sceptical about donning the fancy dress until they saw what everyone else was wearing and then all sorts of costumes and outfits appeared with the majority of participants dressing up. As well as the duathlon which consisted of a 5k run, 19k cycle and 3k run, people also had the option of just doing a 5k run. Then when all the adults were off on their bikes, we held a 2k race for kids, many of whom also dressed up in fancy dress. In total we had over 60 participants which was great.
